Inside Window Recesss
Always measure in cm. Measure the width and drop in at least 3 places (See diagram below). You need to make allowances for any obstructions such as dado rails or tiling.
Subtract 1cm from the smallest width measurement to allow the blind to open and close freely. Make a note of the width and length measurement.
Make a note of which side you would like the cord to sit on. If you discover that the window height or width varies by more than 2cm, it may be more suitable to fit it on the outside of the window (see below).
Outside Window Recess
The process is the same as above. You just need to decide how much you wish the fabric to overlap by on all four sides. The minimum recommendation is 5cm.
Make a note of the measurements.
Ideally, the track or pole from which the curtains are to hang should already be fitted, as your measurements will be more accurate. Your measurements should be in cm and you should always use a metal tape.
If you have a pole, measure the width of the pole between the decorative finial at each end. If you have a track, measure the total length of the track.
Eyelet and tab top curtains can only be hung from a pole NOT a track. Measure from the top of the pole to your desired length. As a guide, for floor length curtains subtract 1cm. For curtains that have a
'puddled' look, add on 15cm. When your order is received, 3cm will be added to the length to allow for the section that sits above the pole (eyelets only).
Please call our showroom if you have any questions.
Always use a steel rule when measuring as a fabric tape can stretch and be inaccurate.
